HISTORY OF GRACEVILLE NATIONAL HIGH SCHOOL |
---|
It started with a vision, the constituents of Barangay Graceville thru the efforts of Hacienda Caretas Homeowners Association President Roberto H. Servande and Barangay Graceville Chairman Elias Gerona with its Barangay Council in 2007 met with Karl Frankenberger, the owner of the prospective lot. Upon confirmation of Mr. Frankenberger that he would donate said lot, the then Congressman Angelito M. Sarmiento submitted a proposed bill in the 13th Congress for the creation of a secondary school that would be named Graceville National High School. The Department of Education Division of City Schools thru Dr. Amancio S. Villamejor, Jr. as the Schools Division Superintendent also conferred with Congressman Angelito M. Sarmiento so that school buildings would be constructed. The building of the first structures finished in 2008, the school started accepting high school enrollees during summer of 2009 and started operating in June, 2009. Congressman Eduardo V. Roquero witnessed the approval of this bill into the 14th Congress which is known as Republic Act 9611, entitled: “AN ACT ESTABLISHING A NATIONAL HIGH SCHOOL IN BARANGAY GRACEVILLE, CITY OF SAN JOSE DEL MONTE, PROVINCE OF BULACAN TO BE KNOWN AS THE GRACEVILLE NATIONAL HIGH SCHOOL AND APPROPRIATING FUNDS THEREFOR,” which was approved and signed into law on 13 May 2009 by Her Excellency, President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo. Mrs. Herminia F. Lawama was the first Officer In-Charge (OIC) of the school with eleven (11) teacher-aides and an enrolment of 879 in its first year of operation for First to Fourth Year levels. In 2010, the GNHS HYMN was composed and recorded by Mr. Romel A. Umali, one of the first teachers of the school. Numerous supports have been received by the school since its operation from the leadership of Barangay Chairman Melencio “Len” I. Garcia including the construction of the stage, flagpole, perimeter fences and water stations thru the assistance of San Jose Water, the use of Barangay Multi-Purpose Hall not to mention countless transportation assistance whenever the school had to send students to competitions and other needed assistance they could give. The school frequently borrowed tents for programs and other big events the school might have even until to date. After two year, Mrs. Esperanza Diaz-Cruz took over the school as OIC, at the same time serving as Education Program Supervisor (EPS) I at the Division of San Jose Del Monte thru the instruction of Dr. Amancio S. Villamejor, Jr., the Schools Division Superintendent (SDS). Mrs. Marietta G. Licopit took the helm in steering the school as OIC from September 2013 - May 2014. To God be all the glory that a public high school has been founded to cater to our distant clients where learners don’t have to commute to come to school and learn! |
